Disclaimer

Before you erase anything, read this
- Formatting and erasing permanently destroys data. Once a drive is formatted, the music on it is gone unless you have another copy or pay for professional recovery. There is no undo.
- Copy the files off first whenever there is time. If you can plug the drive into a computer and the files are visible, copy them somewhere safe before you format anything.
- Make sure you are erasing the right drive. Formatting the wrong device, an external backup, a second USB, your system disk, is the single most expensive mistake in this whole process.
- This is general guidance, not a guarantee. Every drive, player, firmware version and library is different. We cannot see your setup and we cannot promise any step will work for you.
- You act at your own risk. Save My Gig accepts no liability for data loss, hardware damage, missed sets or any other loss arising from following this site. If the music is irreplaceable, stop and speak to a data recovery professional instead.

What this site is
Save My Gig is a free resource written by a working DJ. It offers general guidance on common problems with DJ storage devices, media players and library software. It is published in good faith and for general information only.
No warranty
All content is provided "as is", without warranty of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that the information is accurate, complete, current, or suitable for your particular hardware, firmware, software version or situation. Manufacturers change firmware and software behaviour without notice, and a step that worked yesterday may not work today.
Risk of data loss
Some procedures described on this site, including formatting, erasing, repartitioning, re-exporting and overwriting storage devices, will permanently destroy data. Data destroyed this way is normally unrecoverable without professional assistance, and sometimes not at all. You are solely responsible for backing up your files before you begin, and for confirming that you are operating on the correct device.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Save My Gig, its owner and its contributors accept no liability whatsoever for any loss or damage of any kind arising out of or in connection with the use of this site or reliance on its content. This includes, without limitation: loss or corruption of data, music libraries, playlists, cue points or metadata; damage to storage devices, players, computers or other equipment; missed, interrupted or cancelled performances; and any direct, indirect, incidental, consequential or economic loss, including loss of income or reputation.
Nothing in this disclaimer excludes or limits liability where it would be unlawful to do so.
Not professional data recovery
This site is not a substitute for professional data recovery. If the files on your drive are irreplaceable, stop using the drive immediately and consult a qualified data recovery service. Continuing to use, re-mount or format a failing drive can reduce or eliminate the chance of recovery.

Your responsibility
By using this site you confirm that you understand the risks described above, that you are acting on your own judgement, and that you accept full responsibility for the outcome. If you are not comfortable with that, do not follow the steps, and seek professional help instead.
